Feelings and Pain

I'm curious.

When your feelings are hurt, right,
why is it that you feel physical pain in the general area where your heart lies?

I mean its true right? When you miss someone you feel that your heart hurts. Its like there's something hurting right in the middle of your chest, which as we all know now...is where your heart is.

What I'm wondering is, is there any physiological explanation about why we feel that pain?
Like something to do with vasospasm or increased afterload or something?

Wouldn't that be like so cooooooooool?

I'm being weird.
